Working from home today.
Whilst in the grip of feverish attempts at getting my head around Java, I managed to get a cup of it down me.
That in turn enlivened my brain to the extent where I actually regained enough long term memory recall to remember that I have a blog.
A blog without an entry for months.
So here we are, me on this side and you looking in.
What a joy and priviledge eh ?
( actually, I wouldn’t have made an entry had my friend not prodded me, thankyou, you know who you are
)
....with important underlying principles.
I was listening to the radio in the car this morning, as I tend to do.
The item in discussion was on the subject of lowering the age at which an unborn baby may be aborted.
The woman putting the pro-choice case across, said: (I’m paraphrasing)
When trying to get my abortion and being resisted, I felt out of control of my own body.
I immeadiately wondered if she was equally indignant when the original conception took place, was she in control of her own body then?
I don’t know her circumstances, so I may be way off beam, but I found the statement pretty amusing in it’s hypocrisy.
If only more people were ‘in control of their own bodies’. A wishful ideal, but not unattainable.
Sure there are taboo’s I believe unhealthy for normal conversation or broadcast over the binary airwaves.
Additionally, logical sensitivities and morality are high on my agenda.
I do not however, impose externally, standards I choose to apply to myself.
As a christian, you’ll probably find it a bit hypocritical of me to be defending the right of free speech, but nothing is further from the truth, in fact it’s a right often denied to many christians by sometimes forceful or permenant means.
That is why I’ve decided to promote the Amnesty International campaign to highlight injustice through censorship and the unlawful jailing/suppression of those deemed guilty of thought crimes by their governments or religious leaders.
There are many countries where conversion to christianity is an offence punishable by death, so hopefully you can understand my particular affinity with this cause.
Please go to the Amnesty International campaign site here: irrepressible.info and show your support.
Granted, I don’t have a MySpace account, but I do feel partially sullied by my latest bow to the pressure of the masses.
You should see the latest additions to my Flickr account in the header above, to the right of the title.
So it’s goodbye to my brief but not entirely unhelpful flirtation with Google’s offering and hello to the slicker, more highly featured interface that Flickr has to offer. Let’s hope this latest photo storage relationship lasts longer than England in a World Cup
This place would be a pretty good resturant: |link|
I’m just scratching the surface on the wealth of blog knowledge here, plus I like the design of Paul’s site too, which is another good reason to check it out.
Google beta’s are generally fairly interesting, so I tend to sign up by default.
Here’s my photo collection in it’s new home |link|
Enjoy
Yes, those that are in the know will see the cryptic clue in the title…. I am the proud owner of a Canon EOS 350D (Digital Rebel is the model name in the USA), an entry level, but very capable, digital SLR camera.
My first attempts in the few minutes after getting it home are on this page: |link|

Two more appointments, TWO... just for a little root filling!
Got my second temporary filling this morning.
More scraping, drilling and elbow grease later I can now hardly open my mouth enough to eat my doughnut.
Dentists, great fun for all the family.
Had my troublesome nerves sliced and diced today
It’s the array of weaponry shoved down my gob that fascinates me most. Drills, suckers, needles, scrapers, rasper sawblade things and little wotsit shaped things to stop my tongue getting impaled.
After removing my dodgy filling, she says
ooh, those nerve endings are very inflamed
.... ummm yeah, thats why I had toothache for the last 4 days
Much digging, scraping and multiple injections later, I’ve now got a temporary filling and a choice to make:
Do I get a root filling, or get the whole thing whipped out.
The x-ray she took however, showed that I have very deep roots, which apparently could require referral to a specialist if I took the extraction option.
Watch this space… ( or not a space, if I have the filling done
)

in work.
Active directory, DFS, DNS, Group policies and logon scripts. Sounds like a barrell of laughs doesn’t it
Unfortunatly my initial positive vibe during a fairly major transfer last night was short lived. The first round of tests were all successful and all seemed fine.
I quickly restarted the machine after some configuration changes, or at least I thought I had… I totally forgot that our ever helpful friends in Microsoft decided to default to the “shutdown” option instead of the last used option “restart” (which I thought I’d taken) when using the shutdown menu.
Needless to say, there wasn’t much I could do whilst sat at home to turn on a PC 30 miles away. (no we don’t use wake on LAN, so shut it)
